This was my fourth adoption of a four legged friend, first time at the ANNA shelter and also my first cat. Staff was friendly, attentive and answered all of my questions. I had already looked at their website and had all my paperwork in hand and ready to go. I came in to look at a female calico cat and ended up leaving with an orange and white male. Over the years of adopting I’ve come to realize that sometimes you get to pick, sometimes you don’t and sometimes they pick you-which is what I’d like to think Hubert ( formerly known as Cuppie) did. It’s been about 2 weeks and he’s settled in nicely and showing his calm but quirky personality. Thanks for a great experience!
We got our Mastiff here in July and returned today to get another one! Both times the process was super easy and the staff is so welcoming, even though they are almost always super busy. They care for each and every animal as if they're their own. The adoption fee is low, considering they are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vetted, flea medicated and groomed when you take them home. Would never hesitate to send someone here to adopt a pet. And if you want to donate to a shelter, this is the place. They not only take in strays & surrenders but also rescue animals from severe cases of neglect. These folks are awesome. 🤜🤛
I visited with the Chows that were recently rescued. I have Chows. They were very well taken care of. Their crates, bedding and the building they were in were very clean and nice. There attendent, Emily was very good and kind to them. I feel Ruth and her team are very caring.
Proceed with caution. Just because you see an animal you would like to consider for adoption on the website, does not mean you will be deemed fit by staff. As one staff member put it, “you wouldn’t pick your spouse based on an online photo”. My family and I were looking for a calmer cat and found an amazing little guy however we were told we needed a rambunctious one and were denied the opportunity to adopt based on inaccurate perceptions. We left confused and distraught. Thankfully, we found the perfect addition for our family at the Erie County Humane Society and I would highly recommend them.
Hi all. I want to write a review. But most likely it will be large.
I know exactly why I give it 10 out of 5 stars.
Exhausted, frightened, sometimes on the verge of life and death, animals come here. You know what, for some this place is a real paradise. Basically, those animals that are betrayed by people end up in this place. Some were beaten, some were not fed, some were kept in terrible conditions. It's not always the same. But none of the loving and caring family came to this place!
It's a miracle that there is such a place for animals. When they restore trust in a person, when they move their hands to stroke the fear in the eyes of the animal, it is a lot of work to prove to them that we are friends, that we are here for help, that we will not offend, that the animal is safe in place. You know, in order to regain trust, they do a lot of things, the guys sit in the cage with them for a long time, communicate with them. Every cat here is held, petted and interacted with, showing that they are safe. When you see them at adoption, they practically trust people. Don't ruin it. Special love - doctor. You know, being a veterinarian is not the same as being Dr. Dolittle. Animals don’t say what they were sick with in childhood, they don’t say what happened to them, they don’t say what hurts them at the moment. It's a hard work!
But when the animal is scared and stressed, then everything is complicated. Believe me. If you visited the ANNA shelter page, then that's great, you are a blessed person for the animals, if you left a donation, you are lucky for these animals, if you came to their aid, you are blessed for these animals, if you adopted one animal, you are for them blessing. I believe in good people, I believe in goodness. I like animals. If you have a choice to do a good deed or not, then of course choose a good deed! I believe in you. Even if you give 1 star, you are the best, because you came to animals, you love them, and the rest is not important. The main thing is not to betray their trust.
Watch out for the Anna shelter they let you adopt as owners and then will rehouse your dog without your consent
they lied and said we was approved by our landlord then we get a paper two months later we had to vacate our get rid of are dog we moved from a 50 unit into a 850 with a 500 dog fee for this unit so we can keep him. The dog didn’t know new area so he ran away they got him to me to buy calm pills I do this wait for the snow to go down so I can get him he was gone to anther family my anxiety is up I can barley now I’m stuck in a high rent unit and no dog And Steve lie and say he calls people and he don’t I will be on the news soon with these concerns
Wonderful staff and all round great experience! Just adopted a second fur baby there this week. Fantastic fit with my current spoiled dog 😉 …
Our family has adopted a total of 3 animals from there. Everyone is friendly and honest. The pets are handled and have been examined by a vet. We especially like that you can meet the animal in person first, most shelters now require you to fill out the adoption form before even letting you see the animal or you only can meet them through a cage door. Everyone was wonderful and caring.
I was looking for a forever friend, and I chose to look at the Anna Shelter. The way they love and rescue animals in not only our community but other communities as well is amazing. I knew I wanted to rescue a Pup and p it a lot of thought …
Adopted a puppy here recently and we absolutely love her. Staff is unfriendly and rude and was horrible throughout the entire adoption process. When we did adopt her they took our credit card charged us and then just handed us our puppy and …
